I NEED IT!!!

September 12, 2006

while as you probably know apple had their “it’s showtime” announcement today and announced a completely revamped iPod lineup, including an updated fifth-generation iPod, new second-generation iPod nano, and an all-new iPod shuffle. They also rolled out iTunes version 7 with movie downloads and several new features, and gave a preview of a forthcoming living room device called the iTV.  I don’t really care about the itunes selling movies cause i’m a pirate and don’t buy movies, but that new 80 gig iPod video will fit all of my pirated movies and music nicely. i already had my eye on the new 24″ imac  now that this ipod is out i have a feeling apple will be getting some money from me very soon.

New iMacs

I guess that Apple decided not to wait until it’s September 12th to deliver its new iMacs. Apple updated their macintels with four new iMac models, including a huge 24″ model. All the new iMas  have screaming fast Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The four models : a 1.83 GHz and a 2.0 GHz 17-inch model, a 2.16 GHz 20-inch and the all-new 2.16 GHz 24-inch iMac. Prices start at USD$999.00 and they are shipping today through the . This might be the Mac that I buy, i was previously looking at the macbook but it might be better to have a mac desktop than laptop.

“Cable modem speed freaks, be patient. One analyst predicts that by 2011, only 40 percent of consumers will be able to take advantage of the higher speeds offered by DOCSIS 3.0. DOCSIS 3.0 achieves its speed boost in part through “channel bonding” (using more than one channel to transmit data) for both up- and downstream transmission.” I guess that my mere 5Mbps Down and 512Kbps Up will suffice until then.

The “RIZR”

July 25, 2006

“Motorola has officially announced the RIZR Z3, or what we have known in rumors as the Capri. It’s the first slide-style handset in the RAZR design series that is destined for a US launch (there was one prior to now just for the Asian market).”

This looks like a pretty awesome phone. I don’t own a RAZR but one of my friends does an its pretty cool, I however don’t really like flip phones, so this one I might buy.

AMD buys ATI

July 25, 2006

AMD+ATI=WTF?

AMD buying ATI doesn’t really bother me, why?, i don’t really like either companies, I do own a PC that has an AMD chip in it, but it just sits in the corner. I don’t own anything made by ATI, all NVIDIA over here!!! I was thinking about getting a PC with an “AMD X2″, but since i heard about Intels new “Core 2 Duo” no more AMD in this house……at least for the time being.

AMD Press Release

Mac or Dell?

July 22, 2006

Which one to choose? I’m in a dilema, I’m going to buy a laptop in the next few months, but I’ve come to a roadblock. I currently have two windows desktops that are decent, one a P4 intel box the other a slightly older amd box, neither of these are very portable as you can guess. So, since summer began i thought i should get a laptop something i can bring to school, on vacations and just move around my house. I started to search the web for the laptop that would suit my needs(something moderately fast, good enough for some occasional gaming, photoshop work, and light video editing.) I’ve always loved Mac’s they were the first computers that i had used, and that we used at school, until last when i changed to a school uses windows. The first site i went to was the apple store and priced out how much a macbook would be ($1774.00) which was a bit more than what i was looking to spend, but reasonable. A s a second choice i was looking at the dell Inspiron 6400 which i could get cheaper with a better configuration,(but its not all shiny with a little camera.) it ended up being $1517.00 which was almost exactly what i was looking to spend. i’m still stuck though, mac or dell? if you read this leave a comment or something, ’cause i just don’t know……

Youtube

“The popularity of YouTube is growing at an astronomical rate, as web traffic to the video-sharing site grew 75% just in the week ending July 16.” I go to youtube at least once a day, whether it is from a link in an email i get or from a post on digg or whatever. this site is now part of my websurfing experience and the fact that many people are talking about how it is burning through bandwith and will be dead in a few months really disappoints me. now when most people think “web video” they think youtube.
